Which OEMs are winning fleet confidence?

The latest OEM Relationship Survey from the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA) offers a useful insight into which manufacturers are currently delivering the strongest support for fleets and leasing providers.

Leasing companies scored 26 manufacturers across areas including vehicle purchasing, EV support, financial support, products, services and in-life fleet management. While overall satisfaction remained broadly stable, the report highlights significant differences between the industry's strongest and weakest performers.

Mini emerged as the manufacturer most likely to be recommended to fleet customers, ahead of BMW and Volkswagen. BMW also featured strongly across multiple categories, while Volkswagen, Toyota, Kia, Volvo, Skoda and Cupra all recorded high scores in key fleet support areas.

Among the biggest movers were Chinese brands BYD, Jaecoo and Omoda, which the report identified as leading "up-and-coming" manufacturers as they continue to build their presence in the fleet market.

The survey also highlights several areas where fleets still need better support. EV technical expertise, residual value support, connected vehicle services and driver support for electric vehicles were among the lowest-scoring categories across the industry.

For fleet operators, the findings provide a useful benchmark when evaluating future supplier relationships. They also offer a reminder that successful fleet partnerships increasingly depend on more than just the vehicle itself. EV expertise, aftersales support, supply reliability and commercial flexibility are becoming just as important.
