Zenith is giving fleets the opportunity to trial electric vans in real-world operations through a new initiative designed to overcome some of the biggest barriers to eLCV adoption.
The leasing provider's Take Charge campaign allows customers to test an electric van for up to one month, helping them assess range, charging and operational suitability before making longer-term procurement decisions.
The programme has already been trialled by veterinary group Linnaeus, which tested a Farizon SV. The business reported that the van comfortably met its daily operational requirements, with positive feedback on its range, reliability and driving experience. Following the trial, Linnaeus says it is now planning for its next van to be electric.
The initiative comes as electric van registrations continue to grow, rising 23.2% in June to an 11.5% market share. However, adoption remains well below the 24% ZEV Mandate target for 2026.
For fleets, practical experience can often be more valuable than specification sheets alone. Trial programmes such as Take Charge allow drivers and fleet managers to assess whether electric vans can meet operational demands, helping to build confidence, identify charging requirements and reduce the perceived risks of switching to zero-emission vehicles.
