Ford Transit City now available with chassis cab

Ford has unveiled the new Transit City chassis cab, representing Ford Pro’s first entry into the one-tonne electric chassis cab market.

The chassis cab Transit City has been designed as a flexible base for conversions, with the brand working with its network of more than 200 approved converters across Europe.

Ford Pro has showcased three solutions at the IAA Transportation Show as part of its One-Stop Shop programme, which include a box van, dropside and racked panel van.

The box van offers up to 10.4m³ of load space and a payload of up to 1,120kg. Its low floor removes the need for a tail lift, while a side door and twin rear doors provide easy access when needed.

The dropside is aimed at trades, construction, utilities and local authorities. It has a payload of up to 1,300kg, just over 3.1 load length, and is designed to carry heavy-duty items from building materials to grounds-maintenance equipment.

A racked van is also available using conversion specialist, Sortimo’s modular storage system. It's aimed at businesses using their vans as mobile workshops, making it ideal for carrying around tools.

The Transit City houses a 56kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and 110kW electric motor, with a claimed range of up to 158-miles (WLTP).

For fleets, the new chassis cab and subsequent conversions underline Ford’s aim to offer a ready-to-work electric van platform that can be adapted to a wide range of applications. The Transit City is designed to sit between the E-Transit Courier and larger E-Transit Custom.
