BT and Openreach have partnered with Myenergi to accelerate electrification of their commercial van and company car fleets. Under the agreement, thousands of Zappi smart chargers will be installed at employees’ homes, enabling overnight charging supported by Ovo Energy.
Zappi units form part of Myenergi’s home energy management system, allowing households to optimise energy use and switch to the most cost-effective tariffs. The move is designed to streamline charging for drivers as Openreach progresses towards its 2031 net zero fleet target.
Openreach, which operates the UK’s second-largest commercial fleet, has already deployed more than 5,000 EVs and 2,500 home chargers. It expects its electric light commercial vehicle total to reach 7,000 by 2026.
Judy O’Keefe, director of fleet at Openreach, said: “Switching the majority of our fleet to electric by 2031 is a big challenge but this partnership is another important step – giving our engineers smart, reliable charging at home.”
