Europcar Mobility Group UK has priced-matched rental for electric vehicles and their petrol or diesel equivalents, for business account holders.
From April 2025, companies will be able to rent EVs at the same rate as internal combustion engine models, removing a key financial barrier to fleet electrification.
Historically, renting an EV has been more expensive due to higher purchase costs. However, Europcar, named Rental Company of the Year at the Fleet News Awards, aims to encourage businesses to try electric mobility before committing to a lease or purchase.
Tom Middleditch, head of electric mobility at Europcar UK, stated that cost remains a major concern for around 40% of fleets considering EVs. By eliminating the price difference, the company hopes to make the transition easier.
The price parity applies across Europcar’s UK network, offering electric hatchbacks, SUVs, saloons and vans, including the Skoda Enyaq, Jeep Avenger, Mercedes EQ range and Renault Kangoo.
