Fastned has received approval to build the UK’s first indoor drive-thru ultra-rapid charging hub, marking a major milestone for EV infrastructure in Scotland.
Construction will begin soon at a site off Virginia Street, one of Aberdeen’s inner-city ring roads, with the new facility set to open next winter. The hub will feature twelve ultra-rapid charging bays, each delivering up to 400kW — enough to add around 100 miles of range in just five minutes.
Designed with driver comfort in mind, the fully enclosed building will include a shop, toilets, and a seating area, providing shelter and amenities while vehicles charge.
The project represents a “revolutionary approach” to charging and aims to transform the user experience, particularly in northern regions where weather conditions can be challenging.
By bringing this new concept to Aberdeen, Fastned continues to expand its UK network and strengthen support for Scotland’s growing EV community.
