Toyota has revealed its most advanced Aygo X yet – and for the first time, it’s going hybrid. Set to hit UK roads by the end of 2025, the new Aygo X Hybrid promises a compelling mix of low emissions, punchy performance and a sharper driving experience.
Powered by a 116PS hybrid setup, it slashes the 0–62mph sprint to under 10 seconds and delivers an impressively low CO₂ figure of just 86g/km – the lowest of any non-plug-in currently on sale. That’s a 42bhp increase on the old 1.0-litre petrol, which this unit will replace across the range.
To fit the larger powertrain, the front end has grown by 76mm and now features a fresh bonnet, grille and headlamp design. Inside, there’s a redesigned cabin and a new 7in digital driver display.
Toyota has gone to town on noise suppression too, with added soundproofing, improved glass, underbody insulation and a redesigned exhaust for quieter cruising. Safety is boosted via the latest Toyota Safety Sense package, including lane trace assist, enhanced pre-collision tech and a new emergency stop system.
And for those after something spicier, the Aygo X GR Sport brings tuned suspension, sharper steering and a mustard bi-tone finish, complete with GR wheels and branding. Compact, clever and characterful – the Aygo X Hybrid looks ready to punch above its weight.
