Vertas has slashed its fleet carbon emissions by 57.5%, and saved over £318,000 by adopting Trakm8 telematics across its fleet of 313 vehicles.
In phase one, the company installed Trakm8’s Connect 330 plug-in solution on 298 commercial vehicles, enabling real-time driver behaviour monitoring and fleet optimisation. This initial rollout has already delivered major efficiency gains.
Fuel savings of £257,140, maintenance reductions of £47,742, accident repair cuts of £37,518 and insurance premium savings of £39,513 contributed to the total benefit.
Key factors included better control of idling, harsh braking and route management, alongside proactive maintenance alerts that reduced costly breakdowns and vehicle downtime.
The project, launched in early 2023, cost £111,576 to implement and run for a year, generating a return on investment of 185.23% – a net gain of £206,602.
Phase two, planned for later this year, will introduce Trakm8’s RH600 telematics camera to deliver even deeper insights into driver performance and vehicle condition. Vertas credits the technology with delivering both environmental and financial gains, and it forms a key part of their strategy for building a cleaner, smarter fleet operation.
