Volkswagen Amarok Dark Label Special Edition added to UK lineup

Volkswagen has opened UK order books for a new version of its pickup truck; called the Amarok Dark Label Special Edition, it adds more black details both inside and out.

Sitting in the middle of the range between the entry-level Amarok Style and upper PanAmerica and Aventura trims, the Dark Label comes with a gloss black 'X-style' front end, grille insert, skid plate, exterior mirrors, bumpers, door handles, roof rails and side steps.

The Dark Label essentially de-chromes most of the bodywork accessories. It also gains 20-inch matte-black alloy wheels and is available in metallic black, blue or grey at no extra cost.

Climbing inside, the Dark Label is equipped with the brand's black 'ArtVelours' microfleece seats. Other than that, the rest of the interior is much the same as a standard Amarok. The tech includes a 10-inch digital cockpit and 12-inch infotainment system, along with an array of switches and buttons - which includes a chunky gear lever not seen in other VW models.

Under the bonnet, the Dark Label retains the Amarok’s 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, producing around 240hp and 600Nm of torque. That power is fed through a 10-speed automatic gearbox and has a payload of more than 1,000kg - handy for moving heavy materials.

VW's 4Motion four-wheel-drive (4WD) system comes with a locking rear differential, which is included as standard. Additional equipment to the Dark Label includes a factory-fitted load liner and sliding load cover, adding protection to the loading area.

The Dark Label will be priced from £47,870 (excluding VAT) and is available to order now.
