Toyota has reduced the starting price of its electric bZ4x model to £36,995, and is also offering an additional £3750 off, for retail customers, until the end of September.

Fleet Evolution found that more than 80% of eligible employees, who joined one of its salary sacrifice car schemes, were selecting their first-ever new car. Most were also 20%, not 40%, taxpayers.   


• Demand for new zero-emissions HGVs grew by 32.3% in the past quarter, compared to the same three months last year. Zero-emission registrations have risen by 59.1% in the first half of 2025.

• Glasgow City Council has ditched plans to impose a workplace parking levy, which could have raised an estimated £8 million a year, but is still exploring other road-charging proposals. Employers, rather than individual employees, would have been responsible for paying the charge, although organisations can choose to reclaim part, or all, of the cost from staff. A £500 charge per parking space was proposed.

• A survey of Jaama’s Top 20 customers showed that they received 844,971 fines in 2023/24, but this had risen to 1,080,556 tickets 12 months later. A 27.8% increase.  


• Used light commercial vehicle (LCV) values averaged £7817 in July at BCA, down by £371 month-on-month compared to June, but ahead of July 2024 values by £407 (5.5%).

• A further 72,000 vehicles in the UK are being recalled by Stellantis, after 11 reported engine fires in France. The 28 models, from Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Jeep and Alfa Romeo, were built between 2023-2025 and are fitted with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine.

• The has been a 52% increase in the number of people being given penalty points for driving unroadworthy vehicles, new research from the RAC suggests. Driving a vehicle with defective tyres was the biggest reason drivers received points last year.

• An unmodified, fully-electric Polestar 3 has broken the world record for the longest journey covered by an electric SUV on a single charge. It achieved 581.3 miles (935.44km) on UK public roads.
