Suzuki is launching its first fully electric car – the eVitara – with a bold introductory offer: a £3,750 discount available to retail customers until 31 December 2025.
The all-new compact SUV, which marks Suzuki’s entry into the electric vehicle (EV) market, will go on sale in September. With this early incentive, the launch price drops to just £26,249, making the eVitara one of the most affordable electric SUVs on the market.
Suzuki ‘Granted’ Offer Aligns with New ECG Scheme
The price cut is part of a self-funded initiative called ‘Suzuki Granted’, introduced in the wake of the Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG) scheme. While Suzuki has not yet qualified for the ECG – which offers government grants of up to £3,750 based on strict sustainability criteria – it is choosing to match the grant level independently for clarity and competitiveness.
“This offer represents the full grant amount to give clarity to our customers,” said David Kateley, Director Automobile at Suzuki. “The announcement of Suzuki Granted truly supports our vision to be the trusted car brand for those who are proud to be different.”
About the Electric Car Grant (ECG)
Announced by the Department for Transport (DfT), the ECG aims to incentivise greener electric car adoption. Vehicles must have a recommended retail price below £37,000 to qualify and are assessed against sustainability benchmarks:
- Band 1: £3,750 grant for EVs made by manufacturers with a verified science-based target (SBT) and low embodied carbon.
- Band 2: £1,500 grant for those meeting moderate environmental criteria.
- Ineligible: Vehicles from manufacturers without an SBT or with high embodied carbon.
As of now, Citroën is the only brand to have secured ECG eligibility. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) expects only around a third of EVs on sale to meet the ECG requirements. Vehicles from South Korea and China are particularly at risk of exclusion due to supply chain emissions.
Suzuki’s proactive discount ensures early adopters won’t miss out on potential savings.
